REGINA TANUJAYA

PIANIST - EDUCATOR - COLLABORATOR

Regina Tanujaya is a Chinese-Indonesian pianist, collaborator, and educator. Dr. Tanujaya is rapidly distinguishing herself amongst her peers as a pianist of growing accomplishments. She is the winner of both national and international competitions including the University of Pelita Harapan's 5th National Piano Competition in Indonesia in 2012, the IBLA International Competition, where she performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as part of the grand prize, amongst many others. She actively participates in summer music festivals leading to performances around the world. She performed at “Viana Do Castelo International Music Festival” in Portugal and with Ashdod Symphony Orchestra conducted by Uri Segal in Perugia, Italy in 2013. She also did a solo performance at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City in 2013. In summer 2019, she had a tour concert in six different cities in Czech Republic, including Prague. She was featured in several music magazines and TV broadcasting in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Recently, she was featured in VoyageKC Magazine with an interview of her life and journey as a pianist and performed a solo recital at the Steinway Hall - Detroit in March 2023. Dr. Tanujaya also actively performs in numerous concert series and premieres new works. She is also member of the Neo-Art Piano Duo, performing programs of audience favorites and their own arrangements.

Dr. Tanujaya started her career as an educator both in Indonesia and in the United States, she has been teaching pre-college students for about 15 years. In summer 2021, she is selected as one of the Pedagogy Fellows for Conero International Music Festival and she presented in the pedagogy conference that was broadcasted around the world. She also served as a faculty in their Young Musicians Summer Program. She was invited to be a guest lecturer for multiple music lecture series in Indonesia. In 2020, she was invited to give lectures and masterclasses at the Illumine Star Academy Online Summer Camp, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Tanujaya was also invited to adjudicate numerous examinations and competitions, including, pre-screening selections for Wideman International Piano Competition, New York Open Music Festival Competition 2022, Indonesia Online Music Festival 2021, and KCMTA Achievement Auditions 2019. She is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Online Piano Camp, an online learning platform for piano learners. In 2022, she started an ongoing project of arranging Indonesian Folk Songs to be accessible for pre-college piano students and teachers to use. By providing resources for students and teachers, she hopes to encourage more people to include Asian music in their repertoire selections.

Regina Tanujaya is currently teaching as a piano faculty at MidAmerica Nazarene University and Kansas City Kansas Community College. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Kansas, received Master of Music degree in Chamber Music and Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her teachers include Alon Goldstein, Dr. Robert Weirich, Dr. Arthur Greene, and Dr. Steven Spooner. She is acting as Co-Artistic Director for the Classical Music Express concert series. She is also serving as a performer and festival coordinator for the Emerald Coast Music Alliance Festival, an outreach program that brings exposure of world-class classical music performances to populations who would otherwise not have access to such. She is regularly doing outreach programs in teaching and performing as well as promoting Indonesian music, culture, and arts.
